Legendary Tiffany & Co. designer Jean Schlumberger looked to the sea for inspiration, choreographing unparalleled manifestations of its majesty and mystery. Honoring this legacy, Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue – designed by Chief Artistic Officer Nathalie Verdeille – both perpetuates and reinvents the aquatic worlds that he dreamt up.
Flowers of the Sea
The sea anemone appears as if frozen in a state of perpetual bloom. This chapter evokes its splendor with highly innovative designs that exemplify Tiffany’s savoir faire, such as blue cuprian elbaite tourmalines and diamonds set en tremblent in inverted settings that lend a sense of motion and texture to the creations.

Dancing Jewels
Perhaps one of the most surreal creatures to be found beneath the ocean’s surface, the jellyfish moves through the sea like a dancer. Ethereal, luminescent and curvaceous, these designs echo the creature’s fascinating color palette and organic shape. The Jellyfish brooch – handcrafted over the span of 900 hours – is imbued with a sense of movement, expressing the jellyfish’s unique dance through cutting-edge craftsmanship.
An Opulent Ocean
The Sea Star theme features a field of custom-cut mother-of-pearl starfish entwined in coral-inspired motifs, providing a snapshot of the sea’s fascinating ecosystem. In this necklace, exceedingly rare unenhanced padparadscha sapphires of over 24 total carats and diamonds of over 42 total carats, together with Umba sapphires, mother-of-pearl and carnelians, give life to the theme.
